D&D 3E/3.5 Brainstorming another Fey PC

Just a quick aside for DMing characters with LA. Instead of doing level adjustment buy off, I arrived at applying an XP penalty instead. The greater the LA, the larger the penalty. For example:

LA 1 = 4% Penalty
LA 2 = 8% Penalty
LA 3 = 12% Penalty
LA 4 = 16% Penalty

I calculated the difference between 20th and 21st level in XPs and arrived a percentage of XPs more the LA +1 character would need to be 20th level in PC classes. Did that for 2, 3 & 4. I then rounded the percentage. LAs 1, 2 & 3 I rounded down and LA 4 I rounded up to get at the even increase in percentage penalty you see above.

Some of the rationale for doing this way instead is the large LAs (+3, +4...) take forever to buy off.

I don't do multi-classing penalties so this is the only penalty I apply.

It's working so far. 5 PC party with 2x LA+1, 1x LA+2, 1x LA+3 and 1x LA+4.
