But more seriously -- if the journey rules just disappear after a certain level, it makes them very limited. D&D just isn't set up for it. Ether you change D&D or you don't have journey rules, unfortunately.
Totally makes sense. I need to finish my current game before switching to this system so will decide closer to the time what I'll do. Plus it's L7 so that's a while before PC's get it anyway.

I'm pretty happy with that "disappear after a certain level" middle ground, personally. Having the characters gradually gain abilities that let them easily overcome mundane obstacles, but then facing them with more extraordinary ones in turn, is very D&D.

I get that. And you can totally use the O5E spells. We kinda envisage high level character trekking across fiery planar hellscapes and stuff, where our journey rules can still be relevant and a simple spell doesn't negate them completely, but everybody has different expectations of a game.
 

I'm not clear on how making MM (a 7th level spell) a haven makes the journey rules 'disappear', to be honest. If the concern is that it's free after buying the initial component, you could have just made the components be consumed, as you have with tiny hut (I presume as a deliberate stop to cheesing that spell, as happens in o5e). I've never played at 13th level as player or DM though, so it's not a hill I care to die on :)

On the supply front, what does this mean mechanically, given it's presumably not supply? "The residence contains enough food to provide ample nourishment for a number of people..." (emphasis added)

I guess my issue with what I've seen of the system so far is that most of the effort seems to have gone into nerfing spells and items to prevent them from impacting the journey rules at all, rather than trying to work with them and make them things that can assist with journey challenges rather than nullifying them entirely - so that a magically assisted party can push on further, faster, and through more extreme environments.

We had an iteration where we had tiered supply requirements for tiered environments. I felt it worked OK, but the consensus was that it was a little too much book-keeping. I think maybe that sort of thing is best suited for an article in the Gate Pass Gazette.
