Do you need to be within 5 feet of the enemy or ally in order to use the Help Action to help an ally attack a creature?

The Help Action States:
You can also help a friendly creature in attacking a creature. You must be able to target the creature with an attack, or otherwise threaten it. If your ally attacks the target before your next turn, its next attack roll against the target is made with advantage.

By reading this paragraph by itself, it doesn't seem like there is a specific range specified as long as the player can target it or threaten it. So my interpretation is that someone with a ranged attack could use the Help Action in this manner.

However I then came across the Tactical Support Feat:
When using the Help action to aid an ally in attacking a creature, the targeted creature can be up to 30 feet away instead of 5 feet.

I'm guessing the first thing is a typo, but I'd appreciate a clarification! Thank you~

Reach is something in need of errata generally, IMO. As PCs, we are given a reach of 5 feet. You can take a weapon with the reach property, but RAW this does not actually extend your reach: "This weapon can be used to make attacks against targets within 10 feet." Because it does not extend your reach, it also does not allow you to make opportunity attacks against targets farther away because those require a target to leave your (not your weapon's) reach, which is still 5 feet. And so this whole business of threatened area is pointless because you can never alter it unless you, say, use enlarge to become a larger size that actually grants you an extended reach.

We don't run the game that way because that seems completely ridiculous to me, but that is how it's written.

Absolute madness this made it in! (Then again I haven't' found a TTRPG that doesn't have some janky typo like this). I just wish we could get a weigh in from the developers! As is, I suppose I'll be using common sense and run reach like 5e does.

honestly, it might be intentional - that's how 3.5 runs reach and i've noticed some 3.5 influence in level up.

i still think it'd be silly and i'll continue to run it like in 5e, but i'm not sure it's an accident.

1. In the Voidrunning Classes SRD, the Powers Known column for Psyknight differs from the text on page 16: "You know one level I psionic power of your choice from the psionic powers list. Whenever your power rating increases, as shown in the Power Rating column of the Psion table, you learn one new power of your choice. This power must be of a level less than or equal to your power rating."

This is a cut-and-paste error from the Psion class. I don't know if the same error in the Voidrunner's Codex - I have tried to do a late pledge for it, not sure it went through or not, as I have not received any email.

2. On the Cultures wiki, the Mischief Maker culture links incorrectly to this synergy feat.
