D&D (2024) Will the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide Feats/Spells Have Forgotten Realms Campaign Only Prequisites?

I think there might be a few setting specific feats, but I don't expect them to be particularly common. Things that tie to setting specific situations might be limited, like the Red Wizards or Spellfire, but I think most things will be fairly open.

Personally I agree with this concept, because things in a setting book are not always adaptable to other settings. A lot of people complained about the Strixhaven spell Silvery Barbs, but since I never allowed any Strixhaven (or most setting books), I never had any issues with it. The DM can always choose to override this restriction if they want, but it sets the precedent against it.

Yup- I would rather permit things for my players to use, than take them away. Set the expectation that these things are setting-specific, and then let GMs make the call on what they let in.
... Of course my cynical mind says that potentially means less book sales...

But it's good to see that sort of wording, even if it's in a UA article. Ofc the UA are free 😆

Silvery Barbs I believe ended up published outside Strixhaven and even ended up in BG3 I think. I might be mistaken by that.

Do you think that would prevent you from using them, or letting your player's use them, in any setting? With a reskin? (Genuine question)

In the games I DM I very rarely would deviate from RAW on something like this. This makes it easy. The players understand what to expect. I don't have to make judgements about "this is ok but that isn't" which leads to resentment.

There are things I homebrew, but it is usually restricted to areas where the game is really awful or difficult to follow. For 2024, the two PC things I do not do RAW for are hiding rules and the bonus action/spell slot spell rule.

I use the 2014 hiding rules. For spells it is more simple - maximum of one spell cast that is not a Cantrip per turn.

If I DM another high level game I am going to nerf Indomitable and go back to the 2014 version, but I have not done that in a game I am DMing yet.
