True. They're better off as a psionic humanoid. Sustaining yourself by your own psionics should not make you an Aberration.

Yeah, I think that was more born of 3e wanting to draw a clear line between Aberrations, the Far Realm, and Psionics.
Personally, my favorite psionic race is the Shardmind (though I have a soft spot for Dromites and Blues).

Got a favorite psionic class? My favorite psychic class originally was PF1's Kineticist class thanks to the Last Airbender series. This class was later converted into Level Up as the Elementalist class.

I liked the notion of Blues so much I made them the baseline of what goblins were in my setting, back when they still existed.
Shardminds are good, and I have them in my setting, but the name is terrible. I imagine they would've been better received if they had an at least decent name.

Yeah the name sounds like a working title but they do not feel like a front-runner but they certainly got more steam in them than synad.
give the gem people a better name and a less 4e lock back story, and they can work well.

The dromites could work with a better look and clearer personality, maybe the drums of the band.
likening solid options to a band we need a front runner the singer and getarist the one everyone want to be.
Bass is the more moody thing. I say we slot the gith right here, both familar and now with more context

Drum dromites old but with a new lick of paint to make them a ever beating heart.
Blues has somehow got on stage with a bagpipe, and it is somehow working.
I am not against a freak mutant human option, but it has to be more spectacular than maenad, synad and elan. Something more cool.
But it needs a headliner, something that is the thing people would want to play. What elves are in most settings are to magic this would be to psionics, and it can't under any situation be an elf.

Instead of being the sentient fragments of a gate that led to the Far Realm, they could be psionic Earth Elementals. As for names, it has to be something we wouldn't take for granite.

Hm. Probably the Wilder (3.5). Or the Erudite (non busted version). If Prestige Classes count, I really really wanted to like the Meta-Mind, but it doesn't really work. Oh but the Cerebremancer was a cool idea!
