Beguiling Whispers | Liber Generis Sui by Central Michigan University Press
  • SYSTEM: Five Hundred Year Old Vampire
  • PRODUCT TYPE: deck of 36 cards/hardcover journal
  • RETAIL PRICE: $10/$25
  • DESCRIPTION: Beguiling Whispers is a 36 card expansion deck that helps facilitate multi-cohort play. In a multi-cohort game, the Prime Vampires become much more visible. When the Cohorts switch decks the Grave Keeper puts one card from the Beguiling Whispers deck in front of each Cohort. Each card includes a short narrative text in the voice of a Prime Vampire to provide context for the card’s effects. These texts are intentionally manipulative and toxic, as befits a creature as monstrous as the Prime Vampire. The card grants a boon to the Vampire who claims it but also create a point of tension with another Vampire. A 6x9in keepsake journal, Liber Generis Sui is perfect for recording A PC vampire's musings. PCs write to share events, experiences and artifacts with fellow vampires to illustrate a PC’s evolving history. Interactive elements, illustrations, and phrases on the journal’s pages are there to further inspire the PC’s creations. Maps in the journal share unique examples of the varied ways people have charted their locations and journeys. The journal becomes a unique record of each vampire’s personal journey.

My regular DM in the one 5e game I play has been trying to get us all to try Crown & Skull.
Maybe v2 will be what pushes us over the edge.
I'd play, but I'm not sure about anyone else in our group.
I have an article about Crown and Skull posting today. It examines the strengths of the system for both new players and experienced players.

I am writing a follow up article on Crown and Skull Volume II which really and truly blew my mind. Volume I is awesome everyman fantasy. Volume II is about dragons and is, in many ways, also out of this world.

A GM could run Volume I this year and if successful, follow up with Volume II next year. The PCs from the first campaign become NPCs for the second. Volumes III to V are planned, one a year. If Runehammer keeps up the steam, which Volume II shows he is doing well at.

I wouldn’t mind trying Crown and Skull but I’m running out of space between comics, RPGs, terrain and minis so that I’m doing digital comic, something I used to dislike as I like the tactile feel of reading….but $30 for the pdf seems a tad high. I’m sure I’ll get over it since most of the dnd digital is similar priced….thanks for sharing as his blog for green dragon fest in Knoxville sounds fun.

The C and S players guide PDF is 78 pages and free. But it is a table top RPG and is made to be best enjoyed in print of course. The free PDF is great because it helps guide buying decisions. It does not include all the great GM tools of course which is where the book really shines.
