WotC What 2024 rules would you take with you into a prospective 2014 5E Retroclone?

I'm a bit torn on the Weapon Mastery property rules. One one hand they are interesting tactical choices but I am not a fan of how they let Martials "DIY" their own favorable conditions through mechanics and weapons juggling. Like a Rogue using Vex to gain Sneak Attack on the next round.

Forget "Game Balance"

The background feats. It’s vaguely reminiscent of race as character. You are what you are. That said, it’s part of the 14&24 being so full of PC abilities, which is the big, to me, deviation from OSR. But adding backgrounds with abilities, could be an interesting tweak.

Bloodied, and I've taken to the Baldur's Gate III weapon abilities over the 2024 weapon special properties - but I like a bit more complexity and choices, myself.
