It is clarified somewhat on page 636.

Supply & Magic
In A5E, magic is limited in the amount of useful food and water it can create. Only the following spells in this book create Supply: create food and water, create or destroy water, heroes’ feast. Also, magnificent mansion can support a number of occupants for its duration.

So basically, magnificent mansion doesn't create Supply, because you can't take the food and drink with you when you leave, but characters do not consume Supply while they're staying in the mansion.

The fact that it doesn't seem to count as a Haven is just bizarre, though.

OK, I'm assuming that the rationale for this is to not trivialize Journeys, and I can understand that. But considering that it is a 7th level spell, I think that there should at least be a possibility of regaining your strife and fatigue--it wouldn't be very magnificent if it couldn't! Maybe a basic DC 15 Con roll; if you succeed, you lose a level of strife or fatigue.
I don't know to what extent a spell description needs to specify these things in order for it to count. In terms of the general definition of Havens, the magnificent mansion is certainly much more "a place to get a meal and a full night’s sleep without the reasonable risk of attack or harm from the elements" than it is "a campsite where adventurers must take turns keeping watch through the night".

I suppose if the DM wants to be super-strict about it, you could all go into your comfy mansion with its cushy bedrooms and luxurious appointments, and then ignore all that and sleep in a tiny hut in the lobby.

Magnificent Mansion doesn't clarify whether or not it is a haven or if it provides supply. I would assume it does, but a text clarification would ease the mind for me and others I'm sure.
magnificent mansion needs a 3000gp component but unlike tiny hut's 200gp component it doesn't consume it. If safe resting is your goal & you can cast 7th level spells there are a lot of ways to make something a haven. Heck build shelter only takes 8 of MM's 24 hours. The group could pile in & do a build shelter with the help of those servants & almost no chance of fail since it's sealed if they needed a haven

What's the point of MM at all if you have to create a shelter inside it? A shelter in a shelter?
