Level Up (A5E) Questions on Multiple Summons and Attack Rolls

I'm new here and in a game of A5E and was told to post a question here so, sorry if this isn't right.

I was wondering if maybe I'm dumb or if I looked over something in here.

With a group attack roll it appears the attack will always be a DEX saving throw and then the normal attack roll adding 1 for every member past 1. I was wondering if maybe there was supposed to be extra dice for the other creatures or not?

I just wonder because some summoning spells let you have one big strong monster or a bunch of little guys such as Animate Dead or Create Undead. Would you just have to have a ton of summons to make the damage worthwhile? It feels like it'd take a lot of resources right?

If you use a 3rd level animate dead evwry day just once you can reassert control over 4 undead. So the group attack rolls for say 4 skeletons would be a DC 15 DEX save with 1d6 + 5 piercing damage right? Feels a little underwhelming I guess. Is that how it's supposed to be?

Looks right.

Also, note that it's half damage on a successful save, so the group will always do something. A +4 attack bonus at 5th+ level may result in all misses, depending on what they're attacking.

If it's 5 or less, and the individual creatures would present a reasonable threat, I would recommend running them separately.
If they're not a real threat, use group rules so they contribute.
